چکیده
Abstract This paper examines the potential of using ammonia (NH $$_3$$ 3 ) as a primary fuel in heavy-duty engines for decarbonization, with some challenges yet to be addressed. It presents numerical study Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition engine, where pilot diesel is used ignite premixed ammonia/air mixture. The model and combustion mechanism are validated against engine experimental results methanol iso-octane fuels ignition delay times ammonia/n-heptane mixtures measured rapid compression machine. findings show that can effectively operate up 50% total energy supplied by ammonia, albeit slightly elevated NO emissions compared diesel-fueled engine. Increasing further leads lower efficiency. Hydrogen utilized enhance combustion; however, increase further. Ammonia leakage primarily originates from regions near cold wall, center cylinder, crevice. N $$_2$$ 2 O mainly forms at flame front. Emission therefore due front quenching wall.

متن کاملNumerical Investigation in the Effect of Number of Nozzle Hole on Performance and Emission in Dual Fuel Engine
Air pollution is one of the major issues about the diesel engines in todays' world. It is a special concern in those areas that have difficulty meeting health-based outdoor air quality standards. Natural gas has low emission and resource abundance and also conventional compression ignition engine can be easily converted to a dual fuel mode to use natural gas as main fuel and diesel as pilot ...

aIn the present study a 4-stroke 5hp diesel engine was tested with Diesel oil plus cottonseed oil blends. The blends in different proportions (10 to 50 percent by volume) were tested at constant speed of 1500 rpm. The said engine is operated at different loads and characteristics like Brake power, Brake thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption etc. Engine performance for blends resulted in...
